The Bowen technique also known as Bowenworks is a dynamic system of muscle & connective tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong Australia, in the 1950s. He was fascinated by the different postures people had& how this related to their symptoms of ill-health or body aches n pains. He worked closely with only some of his very close associates, most notably his secretary, Rene Horwood, & Oswald & Elaine Rentsch, whom he entrusted to document his work. Tom Bowen was a natural healer, he would often say that the development of his work was a “Gift Of God”. Honouring Tom Bowen’s request to teach his work after his death, Ossie and Elaine named it “The Bowen Technique” and held their First Seminar in Perths Australia in 1986 and by 1990, the Rentsch’s were teaching full time. Dedicated to preserving the technique and ensuring that it was taught in its original form, they founded the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia in 1987, eventually naming the technique –
